Literally means “land in the sea”, Tanah Lot is an ancient temple that built on a large offshore rock separated from the nearby land. It is one of Bali’s most important landmarks that famous for its unique location and sunset backdrop. When the tide is low, you may cross to see the base of the rocky island where a poisonous sea snake is believed to be living to guard the temple from evil intruders. When the tide is high, the wave swamps the path to the temple that makes it impossible to cross and creates a look that the temple is floating on the sea. The temple’s complex also has a cultural park, shops and restaurants that you can enjoy. The complex is open to visit from 7 am – 7 pm daily.
